Enniskerry to Roundwood
Yesterday ended up being more than just rain, rain, rain, wind, wind, rain, wind, RAIN, WIND, WIND......we're talking 30 km winds across the top of the mountain we were crossing, our feet slipping and sliding on the narrow sheep's trail that was the Wicklow Way! I think that's the worst we could expect at this time of year. I don't have any pictures because the camera would have been soaked. There were a few moments when the rain lifted - this is just before arriving at the base of White Hill (elevation 635 m) and the gale began.
Anyway, we made it out, soaking wet, and were picked up by our best new friend Miney. What a wonderful women! This is a picture of Moe at the front door of her Keepers Cottage. We've been having a great visit with her, and if it weren't for the food poisoning in my stomach last night, this would have been at the top of my "must do again soon" list.
Yes, I spent from 7 pm to 2 am getting rid of everything in my stomach and gut..........as a result we have decided not to do a hike today. Instead, Miney is going to drive us to Glendalough and we'll just relax and I will re-cooperate.
Despite the set back, we are thrilled and having an amazing time!
